Whole Home Repiping in San Jose, CA

Whole house repiping means replacing the water supply lines through the whole house. This is what you do when you are past chasing one leak at a time.

New copper water service manifold with three brass ball valves and a Moen Flo smart shutoff, mounted on a house exterior above an open excavation where it ties into the old galvanized line

Signs you need this

Rusty or discolored water at the tap
Pressure drops hard when a second faucet opens
Pinhole leaks showing up in different rooms
Galvanized pipe that is simply old

When it is time

Rusty water at the tap. Pressure that drops hard when somebody else turns on a faucet. Pinhole leaks that keep coming back in different rooms.

One leak is a repair. The third one this year in a different room is the house telling you something.

Copper or PEX

Both pass code and we install both. Copper is rigid and everybody knows it. PEX bends, so there are fewer joints in the wall and less drywall has to come out. Which one is right depends on your house and how the existing lines are laid out.

How the job runs

  1. 1Walk the house and map what is actually there
  2. 2Quote copper or PEX with the wall openings included
  3. 3Repipe, pressure test, inspection
  4. 4Patch the drywall we opened

Questions people ask

When is it time to repipe a house?

Rusty water at the tap, pressure that drops hard when someone else turns on a faucet, and pinhole leaks that keep showing up in different rooms. One leak is a repair. The third one this year in a different room is the house telling you something.

Should I repipe with copper or PEX?

Both pass code and we install both. Copper is rigid and everybody knows it. PEX bends, so there are fewer joints in the wall and less drywall has to come out. Which one is right depends on your house and how the existing lines run.

Will you have to open my walls?

Some, yes. The quote includes the wall openings up front, and we patch the drywall we opened. With PEX, less of it usually has to come out.

Is a whole house repipe inspected?

Yes. The new lines are pressure tested and inspected before we patch the walls.
