Garbage Disposals in San Jose, CA
Garbage disposal repair or replacement, for a unit that is jammed or leaking. Where it leaks from decides which one.
Signs you need this
Where it leaks tells you a lot
Leaking at the top, where it meets the sink, is usually the sink flange seal, and that is a repair. Leaking from the side is usually the drain or dishwasher connection, also a repair. Leaking from the bottom of the unit means the body has corroded through. That one gets replaced.
A disposal that hums but will not spin is jammed. Turn the switch off first. Many units have a hex socket in the center underneath and a reset button on the bottom. If freeing it and pressing reset does not work, or the breaker trips again, call.
Leaking from the bottom of the unit means the body has corroded through. That one gets replaced.
The drain it shares
The disposal shares a drain with the sink and usually the dishwasher, so when we are under there we check the trap and the dishwasher connection too. If both basins are slow, the clog is past the disposal in the line, and that is drain cleaning.
Grease poured down the sink hardens in that line no matter how long the disposal runs. Wipe pans out with a paper towel and throw it away. The rest of the cabinet is covered under kitchen plumbing.
How the job runs
- 1Check the power, the reset button and whether it is jammed
- 2Find where it is leaking
- 3Repair the seal or the connection, or replace the unit
- 4Run it with the dishwasher draining and check every joint

Water where it should not be?
Call and describe what you are seeing. If it can wait until morning, we will say so.
