Toilet Repair & Replacement in San Jose, CA

Toilet repair covers a toilet that is running, rocking, leaking at the base, flushing weak, or just old. Those are problems with the toilet itself, and most of them come down to a handful of parts.

Exposed closet flange in a tile floor with new closet bolts set upright and the toilet lifted aside

Signs you need this

It refills on its own or never stops running
It rocks when you sit on it
Water at the base after a flush
It takes two flushes to clear

Test it before you call

Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and wait 10 minutes without flushing. If color shows up in the bowl, the flapper is leaking, one of the common household leaks the EPA WaterSense program lists. Flush right after so it does not stain.

A toilet that rocks has usually worked loose at the flange, and the wax seal under it has broken. Tightening the bolts does not reseal it. It has to come up, get a new seal and be set level. Water at the base after a flush is the same job until it proves otherwise.

Tightening the bolts does not reseal a toilet that rocks.

When it is not the toilet

If the toilet gurgles when the washer drains, or water rises in the tub when you flush, the problem is downstream in the main line, and a new toilet will not fix it. A toilet that clogs again and again with normal use can also mean a partial blockage further down, which a camera inspection will show.

How the job runs

  1. 1Find out which part failed: flapper, fill valve, seal or bowl
  2. 2Replace the part, or pull the toilet and reset it on a new seal
  3. 3Replace the toilet if the bowl or tank is cracked, or if you want a new one
  4. 4Check the shutoff valve and the supply line before we leave
